Flagstaff OTA?

Postby DemetriMarcel » Mon Mar 01, 2010 3:49 pm

Ill be moving to Flagstaff in a couple of months and was curious as to the OTA situation up there? I did a search on the FCCs DTV site but only 3 stations came up and only one of the Big Four. Are you able to get Phoenix stations up there? If so what would be the best indoor solution since I am going to be in an apartment. Thanks!

EDIT:
I was doing some research and saw that almost all the Phoenix stations have Translators or Rebroadcasters in Flagstaff among other places. I will be moving in about a mile or 2 from campus so would the Trek HDTVa that I use now work to receive the stations?

To my knowledge translators are typically not at HD resolutions, there is no mandate by the FCC that requires stations to make their translators HD so you might actually need to check into what your local cable company up there offers or even jump on the DirecTV bandwagon via Qwest bundles or a direct subscription.

If this response is a little late and you're already up and running, let us know what you've discovered.

I ended up buying a condo but the HOA Code of Conduct does acknowledge FCC mandate or regulation for the ability to use a satellite dish I just dont think the particular unit I purchased will have a clear enough shot to the southern sky. The CoC also mentions that I can propose for special permission so I will probably do that if I cant get a clear shot with satellite. If all else fails the place has some form of free cable till 2017, just not sure how that will work if I want to upgrade to HD.
